The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society is holding its first ever Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week dedicated solely to raising awareness of RA, a disease that 690,000 people across the UK live with. The week will be held from Monday 24th June to Sunday 30th June. The society wants to emphasise the important message that it is an autoimmune disease with no age barriers. Most people are still of a working age when onset occurs so it truly is a life changing condition.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, progressive and disabling auto-immune disease, affecting 580,000 people in England, which suggests that over 690,000 adults in the UK live with the condition. It is a painful condition that can cause severe disability.
