Osteoporosis and bone densitometry: an overview

Osteoporosis is a major problem in healthcare and the role of bone densitometry in the
assessment and measurement of this metabolic bone disease is being recognised. Professor
Sobhan Vinjamuri and Dr Robert Higgins discuss the merits and pitfalls of bone densitometry
reporting as well as the impact osteoporosis and its management is having on the NHS, and
speculate on what lies in the future for assessment and monitoring.
