Dr Gareth Hynes, joint Oxford Deanery representative to the trainee committee of the Royal College of Physicians, said: "We want to tell you that we’ve been working flat out, night and day, to make sure our NHS hospitals are ready. Ready to not only give best-in-the-world care to patients with Coronavirus, but also to make sure every other patient who needs hospital care receives it without contracting Coronavirus.'
"In order to do this we need to be honest. We may look a little different. The hand that holds yours may be gloved and the smile that we have for you may be hidden behind a mask now. But know that we are smiling, and that our hand is there."
